Senior AI Developer — build the AI-first execution layer of a multi-channel D2C company.

We're a profitable, founder-led consumer brand business selling across Europe, the UK, and the US — Amazon, Shopify, local marketplaces. We're betting our next decade on AI doing the execution while humans do the thinking. We need someone obsessed with that bet to lead it.

Full-time · In-house Remote · Philippines-based Works directly with CEO + COO
Apply now

This is not a Head of IT role. It's a builder role.

We have a Junior AI Developer in-house already — sharp, hungry, shipping his first automations. He needs a senior to learn from. We have ~50 people across the world running an e-commerce business at growth stage. This role sits at the center of how all of that gets reinvented over the next 3 years.

You will not manage SaaS contracts, write strategy decks, or run "digital transformation roadmaps." You will build the systems, enable the operations team to use them, and mentor a small team as it grows around you. This is one of the most important roles in the company right now — which is why you'll work directly with the CEO and the COO from day one.

Where we're going — and your three pillars to get us there.

Within 3–5 years, the majority of execution at CD Commerce should be handled by AI agents. Humans stay in the loop for decisions and for fine-tuning the agents, not for the work itself. That's the destination. Here's the road.

01

Knowledge Base

Vectorize the company's qualitative knowledge so AI can retrieve and act on it. Quantitative data already runs well via our analytics partner — you own the qualitative layer.

02

Agent Layer

Production AI agents per function — listings, supplier comms, marketing, customer service, internal retrieval. Not toy demos. Systems the team relies on every day.

03

Enablement Layer

Specialists already vibe-code small tools with Claude and Cursor. You turn their prototypes into robust production apps — proper databases, deployments, security. You enable 50 people to build with AI, safely.

Concrete milestones, not vague responsibilities.

First 90 days

Audit, prioritize, ship one

  • Audit the company's current AI and automation footprint.
  • Map the highest-leverage use cases. Pick the first two with leadership.
  • Ship one production agent that visibly removes a chunk of human work.
  • Sit with department leads. Learn how the workflows really run.
First 12 months

Build the foundation

  • Roll out v1 of the qualitative knowledge base across two departments.
  • Ship 3–5 production AI agents.
  • Mentor our Junior AI Developer into a strong builder.
  • Establish a simple build–test–deploy cycle, with security and access controls.
  • Set up the framework that lets specialists prototype with AI safely.
Year 2+

Scale and lead

  • Hire 1–2 more developers. Stay small, stay sharp.
  • Start on custom systems where SaaS no longer fits (likely WMS, ERP add-ons).
  • Step into AI Lead. Then Head of AI.

What matters more than your CV.

We're not hunting for the polished, top-of-class candidate — we've been there, it didn't work. We're hunting for someone who is smart, deeply passionate about AI, and committed enough to grow with us for years. A messy career detour, a non-traditional background, a "wrong turn" in your studies — none of that is a problem. Hunger and capability are.

01 Obsessed, not just interested

You read the release notes on Friday night. You've already shipped a side project — a bot, an agent, a tool — that someone other than you uses. AI is not your job. It's what you'd do anyway.

02 Smart and a fast learner

Polished CV is optional. Sharp brain is not. You connect dots quickly, you're comfortable in the unknown, and you'd rather figure something out than wait for someone to explain it.

03 A builder, not a theorist

5–7 years in software development. Solid foundation in databases, deployment, security. When you see a problem, your instinct is to prototype it by Friday — not to write a strategy doc. Speed beats polish here.

04 An exceptional communicator

Our team is distributed and mostly non-technical. You explain technical things plainly, write well in async, and you can carry a marketer or a sourcing manager along without making them feel slow.

05 Someone who commits

If your CV shows five companies in the last three years, this is not for you. We're looking for someone who genuinely wants to build something here for the next 3+ years — not for the next stop on a tour. Stability matters because the work compounds.

06 Top-1% mindset

We don't want to be average. We want to be the company other founders look at and ask "how did they do that with 50 people?" If that energy excites you — apply. If it sounds exhausting — don't.

Be honest with yourself before you apply.

Don't apply if…

  • You're optimizing for work–life balance. We're not asking you to work nights, but this role is for someone who treats this as a craft, not a 9-to-5.
  • You've never deployed something using an LLM in production. Tutorials don't count — side projects do.
  • Your strongest sentence about AI is "we need to be careful about hallucinations and security." We know. So do you. That's not a strategy.
  • You need a fully-defined ticket to start work, or you've spent 10+ years in corporate IT without ever writing code outside your job.
  • You think Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools are "dangerous for juniors." We strongly disagree.

Apply if…

  • AI doesn't feel like work to you. New release on Friday? You're already trying it on Saturday.
  • You're hungry. You want to ship things, prove yourself fast, and grow into a leadership role on impact alone.
  • E-commerce, marketplaces, supply chains, brand-building — you find this space worth diving into for years.
  • You enable others to build, not just build alone. Mentoring a Junior, supporting specialists — that energizes you.
  • You want a place where the founder reads release notes too, and the COO trusts you to ship.

Three steps. Fast — if you're good.

CD Commerce is flat: no directors, no VPs — only "Head of" at the top. If you deliver, you move up quickly. We start you as Senior AI Developer on purpose, then grow you from there.

1
You start here

Senior AI Developer

You ship the first production agents, build the knowledge base, mentor our Junior. We start you here on purpose — to see how you actually work before we hand over a team.

2
After 6–12 months

AI Lead

If you're delivering, this comes fast. You lead a focused team of 2–4 and own the AI roadmap end-to-end.

3
~24 months

Head of AI

Part of the leadership team. The agent layer is real. The knowledge base is the company's nervous system. You decide where this scales next.

If you're good, you'll move fast. We promote on impact, not on tenure. If you're not, we'll have an honest conversation about it.

We're a German company. Our leadership is global.

Around half of our department heads are based in the Philippines. Several of them joined as juniors and were promoted as their teams grew into their own departments. That's the trajectory we believe in: hire for capability and ambition, then get out of the way.

The things that actually matter when you build.

Direct CEO + COO collaboration

This is one of our highest priorities right now. Weekly sync with both. No middle layer, no politics. If you want to ship, you can ship.

9 years of 50%+ growth — and counting

We've grown at minimum 50% year over year for nine years straight. We expect the same in 2026, at our current size. You're joining a real, accelerating business — not a slide deck.

A real budget for AI tools

Claude, Cursor, n8n, vector DBs, model APIs — if it makes you faster, we pay for it. Best tools, not the cheapest ones.

Lean, prototype-first culture

We love rough prototypes. We test, learn, iterate. We don't worship process. Speed of learning beats polish at our stage.

A real path to Head of AI

If you deliver, AI Lead in 6–12 months and Head of AI by ~24 months. We promote on impact, not on tenure. The path is real.

Tell us what you want to earn

We don't have a fixed salary range for this role. Tell us what you want — at start, after 1 year, after 2 years — and convince us why. If the value is there, we pay.

If this is the role you've been waiting for, prove it.

Tell us what you've built, what you'd build here, and why you read AI release notes for fun. Generic CVs go to the bottom of the pile.
